What is a browser profile?

A browser profile is like assigning a different virtual browser to each task. Each profile has its own cookies, history, settings, and fingerprint. This means that no data is shared between them, and there is no data leakage. Each profile is completely independent, and websites cannot link them together.

Why do we need browser profiles?

Example 1: Jane and her Facebook account

Jane wants to run ads on 3 different Facebook accounts, but she is worried that Facebook will ban them because they all come from the same device. So, she used Multilogin. After using Multilogin, each account gets a unique fingerprint, so Facebook will treat them as 3 independent users, rather than one person using multiple accounts. No bans, no problem!

Example 2: Alex and Web Scraping

Alex is scraping data from a website, but he doesn't want to get blocked. If all requests come from the same place, the website will notice. By creating multiple profiles in Multilogin, each profile can act as a different user. This helps Alex scrape data safely without getting blocked, because the website will see multiple different users browsing, not just Alex himself.

What's inside a browser profile?

Each profile in Multilogin has:

  • Unique fingerprints: browser version, screen resolution, and hidden device information, etc.
  • Cookies: they save your login information and settings so you don't have to log in every time
  • History and extensions: keep your browsing history and installed extensions like a real user
  • Custom settings: set your language, time zone, etc., making the profile feel like a real person

What is a configuration file category?

Multilogin allows you to create different types of profiles according to your needs. The following is a breakdown of the categories.

Cloud vs. Local

  • Cloud profiles: These profiles are stored online, so you can access them from any device. Cloud profiles are ideal for teams that need to share and collaborate on the same profiles across different devices.
  • Local profiles: These profiles are stored directly on your device. They are perfect for working individually or when you want to keep everything centralized.

Mimic vs Stealthfox

  • Mimic: This is a Chromium-based browser that simulates the behavior of Google Chrome. It is highly compatible with websites optimized for Chrome.
  • Stealthfox: This is a Firefox-based browser, ideal for users who want to take advantage of Firefox's unique rendering mode.

Desktop and Mobile

  • Desktop profiles (Windows, macOS, Linux): These are standard profiles for devices like Windows, macOS, and Linux.
  • Mobile profiles (Android): These profiles simulate the browsing experience on mobile devices. They are ideal for testing websites optimized for mobile devices, or when you need to browse as if on a smartphone.

Standard vs. Fast

  • Regular profiles: These profiles are designed for long-term use. They save cookies, local storage, and session data so you can continue from where you left off. They are ideal for managing multiple accounts or ongoing tasks.
  • Temporary profiles: These profiles are temporary and do not save data once stopped. They are perfect for one-off tasks or testing, but once the profile is closed, the data will be deleted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I run multiple accounts on the same website using different profiles?

Yes! Each account is independent, so you can manage different accounts on the same website without being linked or banned.

Can a website know that I am using Multilogin?

No. Each account is treated as a completely independent user, and all data is isolated. The website will not know that you are using Multilogin.

How can I keep my profile organized?

You can group profiles by tags or folders to keep things organized. For example, group profiles by advertising campaigns or platforms (such as 'Instagram Ads' or 'Amazon Accounts').

Can I switch them while the configuration file is running?

Yes! You can easily switch between profiles, and each profile remains independent, so your work on different accounts stays separate.
